As a family who loves exploring France in our caravan, we’re always on the lookout for campsites that offer both comfort and charm. Our recent stay at Camping de Mon Village in Châteaudun was a delightful experience that ticked all the boxes for a perfect family getaway. One of the best parts was the price.
Located in the serene setting along the Loire River, the campsite offered us a peaceful retreat with stunning natural surroundings. One of the highlights was the ease of using the Camping-Car Park network app, which made booking and accessing the site a breeze, especially important for a family on the go. We were able to arrive late at night with no issues so we weren’t panicking about our arrival time, which made our journey more enjoyable.
The campsite pitches were impressively spacious, giving us ample room not just for our caravan and car but also for our awning. We even had space leftover; perfect for the kids to play and for us to relax without feeling cramped.
For the children, the onsite playground was a wonderful addition. It kept them entertained and gave us a chance to unwind, knowing they were playing safely nearby. The cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities added to our comfortable stay.
Being situated right by the Loire River opened up opportunities for fishing and enjoying the tranquil riverside. This natural aspect added a special touch to our stay, making it more than just a place to park our caravan. Check out my post on fishing with kids here. If it’s something you’ve never tried before then we would definitely recommend it; and honestly the Loire River is a beautiful place to begin a new learning curve. We also enjoyed short walks on the footpaths by the campsite.
A short but uphill walk took us to Châteaudun, a town that charmed us with its beauty and array of artisan shops. It’s a picturesque place that’s definitely worth exploring. The uphill walk is a small effort for the rich cultural and historical experience the town offers. There are plenty of welcoming places to eat and drink.
A unique and heartwarming find was a little caravan up the road from the campsite. Here, people could leave donations or pick up items they might need. Our kids had a great time rummaging through and even brought home a couple of puzzles. We appreciated this community spirit, and it was a lesson in sharing and community for our children.
One thing to consider, like most of the Camping De Mon Village sites, is that caravans may not be allowed in the winter season. We stayed here during September but noticed that it was closed to caravans in December. Definitely check the app or website before arriving.
In summary, Camping de Mon Village in Châteaudun was one of the best places we’ve stayed in France. With its mix of natural beauty, spacious pitches, clean facilities, and proximity to the charming town of Châteaudun, it’s a campsite we would highly recommend to any family looking for a memorable camping experience in France without hitting the budget too hard.
