We truly enjoyed a fantastic stay at Camping Monte Holiday, situated in the scenic region north of Madrid. I thought I’d share our experiences for families considering a similar getaway, especially during quieter times of the year. Low season / winter camping can look a lot different to Summer, but we’d recommend this campsite anytime.
The Campsite and Its Facilities
Firstly, the campsite’s layout is ideal for families. We had a spacious pitch for our caravan, providing ample room for us and the kids. We were able to put up our awning and still have space to play. The site boasts a variety of facilities – from sports areas, including a football pitch and a basketball court, to an eco-friendly approach with electric car charging stations.
One highlight for the children was the large playground adjacent to our site, complete with safe, modern equipment and, importantly, within sight from our pitch, allowing us to keep an eye on the kids while enjoying the serene landscape – the views are amazing!
Despite visiting in the low season, we found the splash zone and a small splash pool open. The main pool was closed for winter, which we anticipated, but it didn’t detract from our enjoyment, as the kids had loads of fun in the other water areas.
Activities and Services
The staff at Camping Monte Holiday were incredibly welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. For families, the campsite offers a range of activities. Though we were there in the quieter season, we noticed they had facilities for zip-lining, rope parks, and archery, which look like a lot of fun for warmer months.
The on-site grocery store was great. Stocked with essentials and more, it allowed us to cook our meals conveniently without needing to drive to another store. Plus, the store’s fresh bread was a hit every breakfast!
Exploring Beyond the Campsite
A significant advantage of Camping Monte Holiday is its proximity to Madrid. In fact, it’s the main reason we chose to stay here. We took a day trip to Madrid, which was an easy drive. The blend of rural relaxation and urban adventure was perfect for our family, catering to all moods and interests.
Final Thoughts and Tips
If you’re planning a visit, especially outside the peak season, I’d recommend checking which facilities and activities will be available. But even in the quieter months, there’s plenty to enjoy, making it a versatile choice for a family break or part of your road trip through Spain.
We left Camping Monte Holiday feeling relaxed and recharged. The combination of natural beauty, child-friendly facilities, and the warm staff made our family stay a memorable one. We would definitely return if we are ever in the area again, perhaps in the summer to try out the activities we missed!
For families looking for a peaceful retreat with the option of adventure and exploration, Camping Monte Holiday strikes the perfect balance.
